ERA Presentations

I thought the ERA presentations were both so educational and beneficial for our classmates to learn more about each other and our personalities. Everyone’s presentations were so helpful to see how our field has grown, but it also showed areas that our field needs to grow in. One person in OT that stood out to me was Carolyn Baum. Not only was she a former AOTA president and editor of AOTF, but she pushed for a more “client-based” model that focused on the holistic approach. As a proud of University of Mississippi alumni, a major event that not only changed history, but would have ripple effects for the future of African students, was when James Meridith became the first African American student to be admitted to a segregated school. James Meridith paved the way for all African Americans to attend college and maybe even attend a grad school after; like occupational therapy school somewhere.
